Takayuki Baba, MD is currently the Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology at Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba, Japan. After graduating from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1997, he finished his residency in Ophthalmology in 1999. He received the JSPS Overseas Research Fellowship and became a research fellow at Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MA in 2007. After finishing the fellowship, he rejoined the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science of Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine. His subspeciality is vitreoretinal surgery especially complicated retinal detachment and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. He has research interests including the surgical treatment of myopic macular complications and the development of treatment modalities for retinitis pigmentosa and other retinal degenerative diseases.

Dr. Hiroki Kaneko graduated from Nagoya University School of Medicine in 2002 and completed his PhD course there in 2008.
All through the experience in his PhD. course in Japan and his post-doctoral experience in Dr Ambati's lab at the University of Kentucky, USA, he has continued clinical and basic medical research on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment, and has been involved in more than 80 publications and has served as corresponding author on more than 30 papers.
He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Nagoya University School of Medicine, where he continues basic medical research on the retina while performing more than 300/y vitrectomy surgeries.
His recent research achievements include the proposal of a new concept in retinal cell death and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and he aims to contribute to medicine by collaborating with specialists not only in ophthalmology but also in various other fields.

Hideki Koizumi is a professor and chairman at University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan. He received his MD degree from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Kyoto, Japan in 1998. Toshihide Kurihara is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and a Principal Investigator in the Laboratory of Photobiology at Keio University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He is a clinical vitreoretinal specialist in charge for surgical and medical retina, high myopia, and retinal degeneration clinic in the Department of Ophthalmology, Keio University Hospital. His research interest is hypoxia responses in development, physiology, and pathophysiology of the retina. Currently, he also conducts research focusing on visual restoration utilizing optogenetics technology and molecular mechanism of myopia development and progression.

After graduating Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, he finished residency program at Department of Ophthalmology, Osaka University. After finishing a vitreoretinal fellowship at Osaka National Hospital, he became an assistant professor at Ehime University. Then, he joined a research fellowship program at University of Michigan to study the physiology of retinal glial cells under supervision of Donald G. Puro, MD., Ph.D. After coming back to Osaka University as an assistant professor, besides busy clinical work as a vitreoretinal surgeon, he continued basic research on RPE cell physiology, and has published so far several papers in prestigious basic science journals such as The Journal of Physiology, Glia, and IOVS. In addition, he has published over 130 clinical study papers. He has become a professor and chair at Department of Ophthalmology, Kindai University Faculty of Medicine since 2018. Currently, his main interests are surgical treatment of various vitreoretinal disorders, including pediatric retinal diseases, and basic research of pharmacological treatment of ocular neovascular diseases.

Michiko Mandai, M.D., Ph.D., is a director of Research Center, Kobe City Eye Hospital. She is an ophthalmologist and also actively conducting translational researches to develop new therapies. In the past 2 decades, she contributed to the development of iPS cell based regenerative therapies for retinal degeneration, first at RIKEN and now at Kobe City Eye Hospital, from the initial stages involving proof of concept and preclinical studies to the subsequent clinical application for retinal degeneration using iPS cell-derived pigment epithelium (RPE) and the neural retina.

Dr. Yusuke Murakami is a Lecturer of Ophthalmology and a unit leader of inherited retinal diseases at Kyushu University Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan. Dr. Murakami received his MD and PhD in pathology from the Kyushu University. He served a residency and fellowship at the department of Ophthalmology, Kyushu University Hospital. He was also trained as a postdoctoral researcher at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and honored with the 1st Evangelos S Gragoudas Prize for the best Retina paper.
His primary research interests are the biology of retinal degeneration and the development of therapies for blinding diseases. Currently, he is conducting a research on cell death, immunology, nanomedicine and gene therapy including translational and clinical studies. His research projects have been supported by several funding totaling over $2 million, and he has published more than 90 peer-reviewed papers in high impact journals including PNAS and Progress in Retinal and Eye Research.

Kyoko Ohno-Matsui is Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Ophthalmology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU). She is also the Chief of the Advanced Clinical Center for Myopia. Her research focuses on myopia, especially pathologic myopia. She established an international photographic classification of myopic maculopathy. As a method to visualize the shape of the entire globe in high myopes, she established a new technique '3D MRI of the eye' and proposed a novel classification of staphyloma. She has authored or co-authored 365 manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals. She has been awarded The J. Donald Gass Medal at the Macula Society in 2022 and The Jose Rizal Medal at Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2023.

Taku Wakabayashi, MD, PhD, is a vitreoretinal and cataract surgeon at Wakabayashi Eye Clinic in Kanazawa, Japan. He is also a Visiting Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Aichi Medical University and a Visiting researcher at the Department of Vascular Physiology at Kanazawa University. He received his MD from Kanazawa University, completed his ophthalmology residency, vitreoretinal fellowship, and PhD in vascular biology at Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, where he later served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Wakabayashi also completed his post-doctoral fellowship at Mid Atlantic Retina, Wills Eye Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University, USA.

Kenji Yamashiro received an M.D. from Kyoto University Medical School in 1995 and a Ph.D. from Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine in 2002 after joining Angiogenesis lab in Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Yamashiro is an author on over 200 scientific publications (impact factor: over 1300) and currently a Professor and Chairman at Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Kochi Medical School, Kochi University in Japan. His recent interest is in improving medical and surgical treatment for retinal diseases.

Dr. Yanagi is a Clinician Scientist specializing in retinal diseases. He holds M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo. With academic positions in Japan and Singapore, he leads international clinical research projects focused on typical age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and polypoidal choroidopathy (PCV), the dominant subtypes of exudative AMD in Asia.
Dr. Yanagi has a significant publication record, having authored approximately 200 peer-reviewed international papers. His work has been recognized through various awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the Japanese Ophthalmological Society (2008), Rohto Award (2010), Nakajima Award from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (2011), Tano Young Investigator Award from the Japanese Retina and Vitreous Society (2011), and JOS Councilors Nominated Award from the Japanese Ophthalmological Society (2014). Dr. Yanagi also receives continued grant support from the Japanese and Singapore governments, further affirming his research contributions and impact in the field.
