In Mourning the Loss of Our Dearest Friend, Professor Ramin Tadayoni

With heavy hearts, we, the members of the Japan Retina and Vitreous Society (JRVS), mourn the passing of Professor Ramin Tadayoni. His remarkable achievements are widely recognized throughout the world. However, he was more than just an outstanding professional; he was an exceptional human being.

Professor Tadayoni graciously accepted our invitation to deliver a special lecture at the 58th Annual Meeting of the JRVS held in Nagasaki in 2019. His speech left a profound impression on JRVS members. Moreover, he generously guided us in the establishment and operation of the International Retina Society, FujiRetina, hosted by JRVS. Without Professor Tadayoni's support, we could not have achieved such success.

Respected not only in France but also by ophthalmologists worldwide, Professor Tadayoni's warmth, tolerance, intellect, and smile charmed many people.
His sudden departure is a profound loss to the field of ophthalmology, and it is difficult to imagine anyone filling his shoes.

At this time, our thoughts are with the late Professor, and we pray for his eternal peace. We sincerely hope that his family finds solace in their time of sorrow.

Taiji Sakamoto, MD / President, JRVS
